Boilerhouse x Balmain

Can we just all take a minute to appreciate how exciting it is that we now stock the full Balmain hair care and styling range at Boilerhouse? We decided it was time for a change and, after sampling several new product ranges, decided that Balmain made for the perfect Boilerhouse fit. The high-end capsule collection is both simple and effective, while the silk protein and argan oil content across the range helps not only successfully style your hair, but keeps it in tip top condition too.

Not familiar with Balmain? Founded as a French fashion house in 1946 Paris, Balmain was worn by the likes of Brigitte Bardot and Ava Gardner and featured in the 1969 Peter Sarstedt song ‘Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?’.

Fast forward to the 21st century and Olivier Roustering, appointed creative director of Balmain in 2011 at the age of just 25, has brought new modernity to the brand, adding Asian influences to the finer aspects of French couture. Owing to selfies with A-List celeb friends such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, the Kardashians and Justin Bieber,  Rousteing helped Balmain become the first French label to pass the million-follower plateau on Instagram. A brief flick through their Instagram page, now with over 6.5 million followers, reinforces continued celebrity endorsements, with recent wearers of Balmain designs including Scarlett Johansson, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba, J-Lo and Taylor Swift to name but a few.

The Balmain Hair Couture range comes as a result of catwalk styling and the fierce tribal-chic braided ponytails as shown at the Balmain ready to wear Fall ’17 show certainly speak to our show styling aesthetics here at Boilerhouse. While we’re not all ready to rock bold catwalk styles in day to day life, these luxury products also hold up for solid everyday styling just as well.

We’re currently crushing hard on the Texturising Salt Spray and the Volume Mousse Strong, as well as the unreal volume concoction the two make when cocktailed together. To achieve this result, squirt a small orange sized ball of mousse into the palm of your hand, make a hole in the centre and squirt in 4-5 pumps of the salt spray. Scrunch throughout your hair, then style with a round brush for maximum bounce and volume. Finishing with a spritz of Session Spray Medium will deliver a look that will move naturally but maintain bounce all day, every day.

Ask your stylist for new recommendations from the Balmain range during your next visit, or speak to Mitch on reception, and see the results for yourself. As a new part of the Balmain family we receive continual monthly training and support so we really can recommend what’s best for you and your hair, and we’ll continue to share new hints and tips with you on the blog as time goes on, so stay posted for more hair couture news soon!
