Why We Love the ghd Rise

ghd Rise

ghd has long been the industry go-to when it comes to hair styling, whether that’s smoothing minor frizz, creating beach waves, or styling full ringlet curls. Because of that, every year or so ghd releases a new product which ticks new boxes, delivers a different shaped barrel, and/or appeals to a new audience, with the ghd Rise one of the most popular releases of the last few years.

As one of our favourite styling products here at Boilerhouse, we are dedicating this post to the ghd Rise – what makes it great and how best to use it.

About the ghd Rise

As a hot brush, the ghd Rise marks a move away the traditional ghd straightener and tackles hair styling from earlier in the process – giving consumers and users a way of creating a more natural style with volume and life.

Well regarded in the industry, this product boasts a 32mm barrel size which is perfect for adding body to the hair without going over the top and maintains a consistent styling temperature of 185 degrees which gives the hair the heat it needs for optimum styling but without causing damage. Best of all, the soft touch bristles give hair stability and maximum root lift without causing pain as the hair is teased and styled.

So, that’s the winning features of the product. But what do we love about the way it works?

What we love about the ghd Rise

The ghd Rise is a product which has been created for those with all different hair types, who want to be able to style their hair quickly and easily and achieve that coveted salon look at home. Far from the many damaging products which have hit the haircare market over the years, this product uses the right level of heat to naturally lift the hair from the root and inject volume without leaning on masses of product which leaves the hair stiff and removes the buoyancy of a fresh style.

Thanks to its medium sized curling wand, the ghd Rise can also be considered a hugely versatile product, able to work with thick and thin hair without creating or pulling on tangles. Depending on how you choose to style your hair, the wand allows you to pick up smaller sections of hair or complete much larger sections if you’re in a hurry – always delivering great results.

And, because the brush uses heat, the results last much longer than they would with simple hairspray. Not to mention, the consistent temperature which cannot be adjusted has been specifically selected and programmed to enable you to roll the brush as close to your scalp as you like, without the risk of burning or root damage.

Tips for using the ghd Rise

Before you start using your ghd Rise, it first pays to brush your hair through and split it into sections using large clips. While the soft bristles help to ensure that tangled hair is not pulled during styling, having a smooth and well brushed head of hair means that you are starting with the perfect blank canvas.

Once sectioned into your ideal small pieces for styling, wrap each around the brush and gently and slowly pull the brush away from your head. This helps to instil that volume you want around the roots. Once held for a few seconds, unwrap the hair and roll the brush under the hair to give it that soft, voluminous finish. The end result will be a soft bounce in your hair – for maximum volume, hold the brush right under the hair at the root. Or, if you simply want to add a little life to the ends of your hair, keep the brush away from the roots and focus the curling on those ends.

TOP TIP: If you are styling your hair for a more formal event or want to achieve an extra special look, use the brush to create different textures in the main body of your hair and around the front of your hair / framing your face. By mixing up the way your hair is styled and curled, you draw attention to the face and create a frame which really highlights your assets and gives you that salon fresh feel and look all day (and night!)
