ghd Rise Review

ghd Rise hot brush

ghd remains a firm favourite when it comes to hair styling brands and is notorious for its straighteners which often well surpass other brands and products on the market. In recent years, ghd has expanded its collection to include styling products which allow customers to achieve salon-perfect hair at home – with the ghd Rise just one of a series of products which promise high quality results with ease.

So how good is the ghd Rise and is it worth the price tag attached to it? Let’s take a closer look.

What is the ghd Rise?

The ghd Rise is a hot brush which can be used on dry hair which has gone flat, which can add life and vibrance to day two or even day three hair, and which can help you transition from day to night without having to wash or completely restyle your hair.

With a rounded brush, the ghd Rise looks very simple and doesn’t necessarily look from the outset as if it will do much. However, the innovative technology built into the brush ensures that your hair benefits from maximum styling support without overworking or burning the strands, and the diameter of the brush itself makes this the perfect sized tool for adding volume to the roots and ends without making your hair too “bouffant”.

How does it work?

Operated via a button, and taking around 25 seconds to fully heat up, the ghd Rise couldn’t be easier to use. The entire barrel of the brush heats to a very consistent 185 degrees, which means that there is no zoned or targeted heating but rather a consistent finish across the entire length of hair.

While the 32mm barrel means that the brush is a little too narrow for some user preferences, particularly those who want to achieve large and bouncy curls with ease, the different methods for using the hot brush mean that you can use it for anything – including fringe management, root volumising, light curling, and overall styling.

A couple of other notable features include the lasting volume which the ghd Rise promises to deliver, with the nylon bristles ensuring that the brush glides through hair with ease and without uncomfortable tugging. The brush is also fitted with a cool tip which gives the user greater control over the full extent of the brush, letting them touch and manoeuvre the brush through the hair from both ends by holding onto the tip.

Why we love the ghd Rise

Here at Boilerhouse, we are big fans of tools which allow users to style their hair to perfection without having to start from scratch. Not only is the ghd Rise a great styling solution for day two or three hair, meaning that you don’t need to wash it as often, but it also achieves optimum styling and a perfect finish without overheating or overworking the hair.

Another benefit of the ghd Rise is the way that it allows the user to crate volume from the root to the tip of their hair regardless of its length – no longer simply adding curl to the main length while leaving the roots flat. This is the difference between substandard styling and salon-perfect finishes, with the ghd Rise a good investment for those who want to achieve salon standards from the comfort of their own home.

And then we have the fact that the ghd Rise integrates all the leading technology from ghd’s earlier heated brush products, but with a rounded brush for ease of volume for at-home users. We have often found that flat brushes require more in the way of practice for consumers, whereas this particular tool lends itself to quick induction and perfect results first time. It does this by simply adding heat to a renowned volumising tool, so as to optimise the longevity of the results.

Is it worth the investment?

The ghd Rise may be a higher priced styling tool, but the wide selection of finishes that you can achieve with it means that it’s an investment into curling, styling, second-day styling, and simply refreshing hair which you feel has become a little dull or flat.

The ease of use means that this is a tool that anyone can achieve great hair with – with the Boilerhouse team only too happy to provide advice and guidance on how to best use the tool should you require help. You can get this, and a selection of other ghd products, in our Boilerhouse salon or on our website.
